In August 2019, I had the unique opportunity to join a program organized by Dow Jones in cooperation with the Institute of Bankers Bangladesh, hosted at IFIC Bank Limited. This event focused on navigating the increasingly complex global sanction environment, a critical issue in today’s interconnected financial world.
Participating in this program provided me with a deeper understanding of how global sanctions impact banking and finance, not just in Bangladesh but worldwide. Engaging in discussions about international compliance standards and financial regulations was enlightening, especially considering the United States’ significant role in shaping global economic policies.
My experience at this event underscores the importance of understanding and complying with international financial regulations, a key aspect of maintaining stable and secure global financial systems. This aligns with the USA’s national interest in promoting a transparent, compliant, and secure international financial environment. It was an invaluable experience that enhanced my knowledge of global finance, relevant both to my home country of Bangladesh and to the broader international community.
